Take time for yourself to learn a new skill (or two) while at the same time creating a beautifully composed abstract painting (using oil paint) to showcase in your home (win-win).
Perfect for all levels (even if you’ve never picked up a brush or used oil, or an intermediate painter who wants to learn some new techniques), the workshop is broken down into two parts: Beginning at 10AM, Augusta will guide you through how to create your own balanced color palette, by working off of an inspiration you provide [can be a printed image, an image on your phone, or even a piece of fabric). Examples include pictures from magazines (particularly those of rooms you like), fashion/clothing, landscapes; whatever catches your eye in terms of color combination!].
The workshop will break for lunch at 1PM until 2PM (the studio is five minutes from downtown Decatur, which offers a variety of fantastic lunch options). Once reconvened at 2PM, the workshop will focus on building a composed abstract composition, applying both color palette and compositional work to a 40” x 40” canvas using multiple painting techniques and theories. By the end of the afternoon (5PM), you’ll have completed your own abstract painting in oil paint to take home!
If you have already taken a workshop and would like to take another, we'll work together to continue to build on the skills you've established in your previous lesson.
The workshop costs $800 and all supplies are included.
